Dreams do come true. This saying describes the rapid rise of tall, black, and beautiful Mexico born Kenyan actress and filmmaker, Lupita Nyong’o, who just a few years ago was a little-known actress in Kenya.

Lupita rose to slight fame in the MTV Base series, Shuga, a 2009 drama that explored sexual relationships among youth in Nairobi, Kenya. She later wrote, directed, and produced the critically acclaimed documentary about the treatment of Kenya’s albino population in Kenya titled, In My Genes.

At a time when Nigeria’s Omotola Jolade and Genevieve Nnaji were battling for international recognition, the Kenyan actress made her Hollywood movie debut as Patsey in the Steve MacQueen directed movie about slavery in America, 12 Years A Slave. The movie soon turned a huge turning point for her.

Her outstanding performance in the movie has won her multiple awards including New Hollywood Award, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and also nominations at Golden Globes, BAFTA and the Academy Awards (Oscars).

The graduate of the Yale School of Drama’s stage credits include playing Perdita in The Winter’s Tale (Yale Repertory Theater), Sonya in Uncle Vanya, Katherine in The Taming of the Shrew, as well as being in the original production of Michael Mitnick’s Elijah.

Known for her short hair, which she has been wearing since she was 19 years old, Lupita, has been featured on the cover of several international celebrity magazines.

Lupita, who was born in 1983 in Mexico, is from the same ethnic group as President Barack Obama’s father. She is multilingual; speaks English, her native Luo, Spanish, Swahili and conversational Italian.

She will star next in an action thriller dubbed Non-Stop, scheduled for release on February 28, alongside Liam Neeson (Taken) and Emmy Award winner, Julianne Moore.

Nairobi gays and lesbians have been running their own church christened Cosmopolitan Affirming Church (CAC) since November last year, The Nairobian has established. The place of worship is situated in a high-end estate in Nairobi and the number of adherents has steadily increased to more than 100. Outspoken gay activist Joji Baro, who is also the church’s communications director, says the move to open their own church was due to the discrimination gays and lesbians face in other churches. “Other churches don’t welcome us, yet we worship the same God. We formed our own church for friends and relatives of the gay and lesbian communities,” says Joji.  Joji refused to disclose the location of the church for fear that irrational Kenyans might storm the place and cause havoc. Joji is categorical that the church’s agenda is not to recruit more people into gay lifestyle.

“It is a normal church, just like any other. Only that we don’t bash gays and lesbians. We simply go to worship God,” he said.

Nairobi's Church of Satan is 'fake', claims the mother Church of Satan

                 

     

                  The Church of Satan, a non-theistic religion, has accused the Church of Satan in Nairobi of using their name illegally to recruit new members. “I can assure you that this alleged group in Nairobi is not part of the actual Church of Satan. We have no association with them. These people from Kenya are frauds, plain and simple,” an official media representative of the Church of Satan who identified himself as Bill M, told The Nairobian. Bill said that the group in Nairobi that is claiming to be one of its branches, offends the Church of Satan. “We do not sanction any sort of Church of Satan ‘branches’ like this. They have no affiliation with us and are just stealing our name for attention. We will be taking the appropriate legal actions against them,” Bill said.

Anton Szandor LaVe, an American author, occultist, and musician, founded the Church in 1966. Bill asked any person in Kenya wanting to join the Church to do so by sending in a request for membership and a one-time fee to the actual Church of Satan. 
           

Pastor who ordered women to attend prayer without bras and inner wear now fears for his life

The pastor of a church in Dandora estate alleged to haveoutlawed women from wearing innerwear and brasduring prayer service is on the run after an irate mob
stormed and demolished his church.Reverend Michael Mulama, the senior pastor at JesusJubilation Centre in Dandora Phase 2, was reported onsocial media to have termed underpants ‘ungodly’ andbanned female members of his church from attendingSunday services in panties and bras.

When the The Nairobian caught up with Pastor Mulama
in his hiding place, he blamed members of a different
community for spreading a lie, saying he was afraid and
on the run because people he trusted with his life had
conspired with his enemies to finish him.

“Since I started preaching, some people from a certain
community have been unhappy with me because I am
not one of their own. That’s how they conspired and
bribed some women to spread the news that I told them
to be attending the services without panties,” he said.

“I am an educated man. I’ve even preached abroad.
Check my messages online; I am not insane to do such
things,” he added.

When word of the ‘nude prayer worship’ spread, Mulama
claims he tried to report the matter in the chief’s office
but was attacked by goons who tied and took him to the
dump site (Dandora) where they robbed him phone and
Sh80,000 he had in his wallet.

He blames the local administration and his rivals for
conspiring to tarnish his name, besides colluding with
others to grab the land where his Church stood.

confirmed Reverend Michael Mulama reported the
incident on February 25.

“He is now at large yet he reported the matter but he is
yet to record a statement and that’s criminal, I wonder if
such amount of money can fit in a wallet. Even the chief,
a woman, is shocked. We are also looking for him, I am
told basinful of women’s panties of different colours
were found in the compound, what was he doing with
them?” posed the officer.

Reverend Mulama, however, claims to have recorded the
fresh statement with the office of Inspector General. But
the contacts he left at the police station belong to
unidentified woman who had this to say when called by
The Nairobian: “I am the member of his Church and I can
confirm what people are saying about the man of God is
not true. Some people are trying to tarnish his name,”
she said before hanging up.

Reverend Mulama claims to have been Catholic Priest for
ten years but he became uncomfortable with the some
Catholic doctrines and practices.

At the same time he felt strong calling from God to serve
poorest people who live in slums.
Reverend Mulama received an inheritance in form of
piece of land from his father who urged him to care for
the poor.

Meet, Ilham Anas, a 40-year old Indonesian photographer  that has a striking resemblance with Obama that has made him become popular and a TV star in his country.

He has appeared on Indonesia’s premier TV talk show, done an advertisement as Mr Obama, and received other marketing offers from companies in the region.

The real Barack Obama went to school in Jakarta in the late 1960s, when his classmates knew him as Barry.

Mr Anas told Reuters news agency: “I was in the airport in Malaysia in transit and a man approached me and asked: ‘Are you Obama?’. I was very surprised when he asked to take a picture together and bought me a meal.”

Mr Anas was born and raised in Bandung, West Java.

“I will take all the opportunities that come my way, as long as they don’t violate ethical codes and my personal values,” he told AFP news agency.

The Most Wanted Kenyans On FBI List Are From Kisumu

International Criminal Police Organisation, or Interpol, has posted information on 20 Kenyans wanted for crimes committed locally and in foreign countries.

Among the 20 most wanted people are Jim Roberts Agengo.

Businessman Yagnesh Devani who is currently in hiding is being sought by Kenyan authorities over corruption-related offences associated with the Triton oil scandal.

His photograph and that of other Kenyans have been published on the Interpol website, and the public are urged to notify police if those wanted spotted anywhere in the world.

The list includes 10 Kenyans being sought by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) over fraud, sexual crimes and murder allegations.

US authorities are trying to apprehend Jim Roberts Agengo, 66, from Kisumu. “Mr Agengo is wanted by the judicial authorities of United States to serve a sentence for two counts of aggravated indecent assault, two counts of institutional sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault,” Interpol said.
Another Kenyan, Benjamin Kaviti, is also listed on the Interpol wanted list for rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent and sexual assault.
