On Tuesday, the husband turned up at about 9pm and tried to persuade her to go back with him and start life afresh but the woman refused and the man started punching her, forcing her to scream for help. Neighbours responded and the man calmed down most likely for fear of mob justice.
The crowd left and it was at this time that he persuaded the woman to escort him out.
The area police boss who confirmed the incident said that once out of the village, the man drew a knife, chopped off Itumbi’s breast and later on stabbed her severally on the chest before fleeing away with the two breasts.
Villagers who responded to her cries for help found her dead and in a pool of blood. Efforts to chase down the man bore no fruits and has since vanished into thin air. Investigations are underway to arrest him with the body of Itumbi lying at Kimbimbi Sub-District Hospital Mortuary.
